“Eco-friendly” Products are a SCAM

More than ever products are misleading us into thinking they’re better for us, better for our wallet, or better for the planet than they really are. And we all just want to buy stuff without feeling guilty right?

I still don’t understand, why are we so against plastics. The monomers that made them are by-products of oil refinery. So whether you like them or not, they are there. You either turn them into fuel or use them as plastics. However, the important thing is once polymerized(being made into plastics), they are stable for thousands of years. Yes, most of them end up in landfill and so what? The carbon is locked in and not released into the atmosphere which addresses the biggest environmental concern right now. Do you now how much CO2 and methane is produced from composting? I am supporting recycling plastics but I’m not supporting banning them or switch to alternatives that made life even worse (e.g. paper straws that have more glues and PFAS)

If our governments actually cared about earth they would make a public spectacle of China and India, the countries where 90+ % of these problems originate. USA is but a drop in the bucket when compared to these places.
Because they don’t mention this we know our dear leaders are using pollution, recycling, “climate change” , “co2” to push globalist agendas.

  21. We are made to think that environmental problems are caused by us. When in reality all the problems stem from poor legislation, leaning away due to lobbying (legal bribery) and greed of important people.

A single person could throw trash and used tyres in the forest, shit outdoors, wear one-use clothes, drive coal powered car and leave it idling 24/7 when not used…. And still be a thousand time less polluting than any single billionaire.

  23. I have the same problem but finding makeup that is organic and real. Most brands are full of shi— Their products labeled as "paraben-free" "without this, without that" end up having worse substitute ingredients, irritants, carcinogens, endocrine disruptors.
When I finally got a facial moisturizer without all that crap, my skin improved 1000 times. Because all the problems I had were a result of using these creams that claim to be good for the skin (and exaggerated prices) and that everywhere are still promoted as "natural" "chemical-free" "good for the planet." Really frustrating.🙄

Seriously, even if 100% of all aluminum and plastic containers were recycled, how much energy is unnecessarily used? How much carbon is produced in the process? Instead we’re supposed to be worried about cow burps.

  31. Twenty or so years ago in my country it was not common to use disposable stuff. You go shopping? You better be carrying you cloth bags. Going for beer or something else in a bottle? You better be carrying your empty glass bottles for it… It’s mind bending how quickly the people became accustom to the idea of buying a plastic bag so you can carry your 3 items (2 of which you can fit in your pockets) for 5 minutes. Absolutely disgusting! It’s not hard to be actually more eco friendly, but too much people simply don’t care…

I work in retail and have a strong understanding of the industry’s ins and outs.

When you’re looking to buy something that will stand the test of time, it’s crucial to steer clear of heavily discounted items. Always conduct thorough research before making a purchase.

Products that are deeply discounted are often cheap for a reason, regardless of their brand name. Don’t waste your hard-earned money on what seems like a great deal at first glance. There’s a significant risk that these items have defects and are being sold at a lower price just to move inventory. Often, this means you’ll end up spending more later on replacements due to faults. Cheap appliances, in particular, tend to break down more frequently.

Instead, invest a little more in high-quality, up-to-date

People are mean to disabled people like those who have strokes or tremors who could injure their mouths with metal or bamboo straws and who physically cannot drink fast enough with paper straws which get soggy. Like people are so hung up about trying to look good from an environmentalist standpoint that they are cruel to disabled people

  45. imo best way for us to stop a lot of waste: try to fix the crap you have as best as possible, like if you have some stains or rips in clothes – learn to live with it, fix it or repurpose it. Pretty sure all the clothes we buy and throw out without much consideration is way much more damaging to the environment, but people dont speak about it cause it turtles dont choke on them and fast fashion industry is too big to allow people to dunk on it and refuse them, so now we have paper straws (the most absurd part is, was buying a small box of juice which had paper straw attached to it…. in a plastic bag, oh the sweet sweet absurdity of it all)
and ofc, before buying stupid gadgets for stupid things ask yourself, do you really need it? do you need all the plastic gadgets to core apples, chop salads, chop boiled eggs, etc or can you do it all with a simple knife that will outlast all those temu, wish, amazon and so on garbage. these days garbage has infiltrated most if not all online shopping sites. idk for now only though about cutting related stuff. but there are plenty of other examples, ig clothes is another massive one

  46. It’s exhausting, to be honest. The industry at large is slowly destroying the planet with its activity, then gaslights the consumer by saying its our responsibility. Then the alleged "solution" they provide is a placebo that doesn’t help the issue at all. At this point, I’m immediately skeptical about Anything claiming to be remotely good for the environment. Another big side effect is that this practice of big corporations cosplaying to be eco-friendly sows distrust among consumers about genuinely initiatives and companies doing real effort to come up with a real solution.

It’s quite ridiculous to me that people won’t trust random things on Ebay or Temu that are a so called "scam" but trust products like shown in the video which contain no real proof. Marketing is king, and we may never truly know if it really is beneficial for anything. It’s a feel-good exercise. There’s often clear evidence on the packaging that it’s a load of shit.

My favorite is how McDonalds got rid of plastic straws, which causes problems like them going soft and soggy, eventually falling apart, however the lids on the cups are still plastic and don’t need to be. The paper cups also contain plastic in them, I believe in a coating which is why liquid doesn’t just dissolve the cups because liquid just soaks through paper or cardboard normally. You can even watch time lapses of fast food cups and see the mess they eventually make.

Are you saying "Stop buying the bamboo toothbrushes, stick with all plastic?" The bamboo toothbrushes are far from perfect, but definitely better than either plastic manual toothbrushes or electric ones. I have used them for years and will carry on doing so, less plastic is produced to make them, it has to be better. Yes, a very small change on it’s own but one of many things I do to reduce my use of plastic. Good video though, thank you, very interesting and useful
